FAQs
General Product Questions
1. What are your products made from?
All our current products are made from sustainably farmed Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae and their by-products, including larvae, oil, and frass (castings). They’re packed with protein, healthy fats, and micronutrients—ideal for pets, plants, and the planet.
2. Are BSF products safe for pets?
Yes. BSF is a natural, bioavailable, and hypoallergenic protein source. It’s easily digestible and rich in essential amino acids, calcium, and antimicrobial peptides, making it ideal for dogs, chickens, reptiles, birds, and fish.
3. What is BSF frass and how does it benefit plants?
BSF frass is the nutrient-rich organic waste left after larvae feed. It improves soil structure, boosts microbial biodiversity, and enhances plant immunity due to its high chitin and organic matter content.
4. Are your products 100% natural?
Absolutely. All our products are free from additives, fillers, antibiotics, preservatives, or chemicals. We believe in letting nature do the work—with minimal processing, and maximum integrity.
5. Are your products suitable for sensitive pets?
Yes. Our BSF protein and oil are hypoallergenic and free from common triggers like beef, chicken, soy, or fish. They’re especially beneficial for pets with digestive issues, skin sensitivities, or allergies.
Quality & Certifications
6. What quality standards do you follow?
We only source from facilities that are GMP+ and HACCP certified. Every production partner must meet strict hygiene, processing, and traceability standards.
7. What do you mean by “100% plant-based feed”?
We only select BSF farms that use fully plant-based inputs, no animal by-products. This ensures higher purity, better digestibility, and improved sustainability metrics.
8. Are your BSF larvae traceable?
Yes. All batches are fully traceable, from the feedstock used to the finished product, ensuring consistency, safety, and full transparency for our partners and customers.
9. Is your production zero-waste?
Yes. Our BSF system is truly circular. Organic waste is upcycled into larvae and frass, and nothing is discarded. Frass goes back into soil, closing the loop.
10. Do your products meet regulatory requirements for feed and fertilizer?
All products are compliant with relevant regulations in our end-markets, including AAFCO guidance for pet feed ingredients and organic certification requirements for fertilizers.
Pet & Plant Benefits
11. What health benefits does BSF oil offer for dogs?
HealthJoy™ BSF oil contains MCFAs, lauric acid, and AMPs that support immune health, gut microbiota, shiny coats, and joint function. It’s a cleaner alternative to fish oil.
12. What is chitin and why is it important for plants?
Chitin (and its derivative chitosan) is a natural biopolymer found in insect exoskeletons. It strengthens plant immunity, boosts root resilience, and promotes beneficial soil microbes.
13. Is frass better than worm castings or compost?
Frass typically has a higher organic matter content (>80%), is cleaner, odorless, and packed with active chitin. It outperforms conventional compost in microbial activity and nutrient bioavailability.
14. Can BSF products be used on edible plants?
Yes. Frass-based fertilizers like SoilJoy™ and PotJoy™ are completely natural and safe for fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
15. Are your products child- and pet-safe for use around the home?
Yes. Our fertilizers are odor-free, non-toxic, and safe for use in gardens, balconies, and even indoors—ideal for eco-conscious families.
